On Saturday I had the pleasure of hanging out with the SEET1 gang, to celebrate the group’s second birthday. It was a fantastic party, held at Kids Kingdom in Southend, and over 100 people attended the event. Not only was this a celebration of the group’s second anniversary, but also of its success and how amazingly far it has already come. I met some lovely new faces and even made myself a handful of new diabuddies!
We were also lucky enough to be joined by David Robinson, a volunteer support officer from Diabetes UK. David gave a short talk about his job role, the involvement he has in the community and how impressed he was with the work that the SEET1 team do.
It was a very action packed and fun-filled evening. Both the children and the adults participated in running around, bouncing up and down, and attempting to climb Jelly Mountain. I think it’s safe to say that the kids won that challenge, although I am sure that the adults secretly enjoyed it more…
Obviously, given the nature of the group, there were a few hypos that had to be treated after all of the exercise and excitement. What better place to be than at a birthday party with a delicious cake. And the team even carb counted it for us!! #heroes
I can honestly say that the group’s admin team are among some of the nicest people I have ever met. They always make you feel so welcome and involved. I think I speak on behalf of everyone that came along Saturday when I say what an amazing job the team do. Without them these events would not be possible and so many people would be continuing their type 1 journey alone. Thank you all for a fantastic evening, you should be really proud of yourselves!
I am super happy to announce that myself and Gary will now be joining the team. We cannot wait to get stuck in and look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Aww, I love it Hannah. Brought a tear to my eye. As a T1 mum, I’ve loved meeting everyone and it’s certainly helped us to feel that we are not alone. We’re so excited that you’re both joining the team, roll on the next event.
